  • headaches, including migraines
  • shoulder, arm, elbow, and hand pain
  • hip, leg, knee and foot pain
  • other painful conditions
  • addiction control (such as smoking or other addictions)
  • stress relief -health maintenance

The world health organization has recognized acupuncture’s ability to treat the following conditions: Neuromusculoskeletal conditions (such as arthritis, neuralgia, insomnia, chronic fatigue), emotional and psychological disorders (such as depression and anxiety), respiratory conditions (asthma, and sinusitis for example), and gastrointestinal conditions (diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, etc..), and hypertension.

Is Acupuncture painful?

Although needles are used for a typical acupuncture treatment, they are high quality specialized needles which are very small. Due to their small size and shallow penetration in use they typically cause very little discomfort for most patients. The needles are sterile and disposed of after every treatment. Dr. Rye also offers other meridian therapy techniques which do not require needles if necessary.

What is the theory behind acupuncture?

The acupuncture theory is that the body has 12 main meridians and 8 extra meridians with about 2000 acupuncture points along those meridians. Meridians, or channels, are the pathway that qi (pronounced chee) or energy travel through in the body. Qi should flow through the body smoothly and be uninterrupted. When blockages or stagnation occur along a channel it can cause pain or dysfunction along that meridian. Acupuncture treatment is used to improve the flow of blood and qi energy which restores the body’s normal balance, improves health, and alleviates pain.

How much treatment is necessary for acupuncture to be effective?

The amount of treatment that is needed varies from condition to condition. More chronic conditions may take more time and therapy to resolve. Many times when treating a painful condition with acupuncture patients will see results and a decrease in pain in 2 to 3 treatments.

How much does it cost?

A normal acupuncture treatment is $50.00 per session. Our stop smoking pre-paid acupuncture special is $150.00 and includes three weeks of twice-a-week treatments. When treating an addiction with acupuncture it is important to maintain a steady flow of regular visits.
